The SEC used to give out this award, then called the Bernie Moore Trophy. Tennessee actually won it several times. Then it was named after former SEC commissioner Bernie Moore, who I think had also been track coach at LSU. No one is sure why they stopped giving out the award, but most think it was because Florida had started to win it every year.
